Year 7 Progress and Settling-In Evening

On Wednesday, Platanos College welcomed our Year 7 parents and carers to the school for our Progress and Settling-In Evening.

Parents and carers were able to speak with the wider senior leadership team at the school and form tutors about how well their children have started at secondary school.

Alongside our unshakeable belief that Attitude determines Altitude, parents received baseline grades for their child in English, Mathematics and Science and, with guidance from staff at the school, compared this with their SATs results. Added to the Year 7 curriculum evening at the start of term, our parents and carers are better prepared than ever before to support their child’s learning at home.

It was a pleasure to see the delight in so many of our pupils’, parents’ and carers’ faces as they left the school following their conversations. It was an overwhelmingly positive evening.

Some feedback from our parents and carers:

  • “I understand what my child’s baseline grades are for English, Maths and Science.”
  • “I feel that my child will make good progress at Platanos College.”
  • “My child is well supported by their teachers.”
  • I have a better understanding what my child needs to work on to make good levels of progress.”
