Homework
All Platanos College pupils are expected to undertake homework as part of their studies. Homework is set regularly.
Homework is important for a variety of reasons:
- It allows pupils to assess, reflect upon and consolidate work that has taken place in the context of a lesson.
- It encourages independent learning.
- It allows pupils to pursue their own interests and develop their abilities.
- It enables preparation of a range of activities which can be followed up in subsequent lessons.
- It provides a vehicle for teacher-pupil-parent interaction.
Show My Homework online system
We use the ‘Show My Homework’ online system for recording and monitoring homework. Pupils, parents and carers are able to log in to this system to keep track of all pupils’ homework. All homework set by teachers will be recorded on this website tool. However, this online tool is not required to complete the actual homework.
The school has introduced this website tool in order to continue to maximise pupils’ learning. Parents and carers can see all the set homework by logging in using their individual account so that they can better support their children. The system can be accessed via a computer, mobile phone app or tablet device.
