Platanos College is an IQM Centre of Excellence

Platanos College is very proud to announce that we have received the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Centre of Excellence award.  The college was assessed and achieved this award in July 2019, with the official award and presentation taking place earlier this month in September.

The Inclusion Quality Mark provides schools with a nationally recognised framework to guide their inclusion journey. The IQM team help schools evaluate and measure how they are performing, empowering them to improve and develop.

IQM states that inclusion promotes equal opportunities for all pupils, whatever their age, ethnicity, attainment and background. It pays particular attention to the provision made for, and the achievement of, different groups of pupils within a school.

The college was inspected over two days and is proud to be an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence following the assessment.

The assessor commented, “The inclusive ethos at Platanos College is underpinned by strong, positive relationships between staff and pupils. Nothing is left to chance; there is a strong focus on achieving outcomes through child-centred planning and effective communication between school and home.”

Being a Centre of Excellence enables member schools to come together to share and build on inclusion best practice.

Only around 240 schools in the UK have met the standard required to become an IQM Centre of Excellence for outstanding practice in inclusion.
