Phoenix Book Awards
After an exciting shortlisting event in January, eleven Lambeth and Southwark schools gathered to vote on their favourite book and see the Mayor to Lambeth present an award to the winning author.
Every pupil had read the four shortlisted books and they were given the chance to share their views, meet the authors and hear them talk about their stories. Ten Platanos College pupils from Years 7 and 8 attended and represented their school superbly, scoring 36/39 in a quiz on the books they’d read. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop their love of reading by introducing them to new authors and teaching them about their inspiration and motivation for writing.
