Platanos College pupils celebrate excellent GCSE results

Our pupils celebrated their achievements in summer 2017 despite increasingly challenging exams and grade boundaries.

Achieving Grade 4 (C)+ GCSE in English and maths

Over two thirds (67%) of our pupils achieved the new Grade 4 (equivalent to C) or above in English and maths in 2017. This is above the national and local authority average.

Approximately half (48%) of pupils achieved Grade 5 or higher in both English and maths. This is also above the national and local authority average.

EBacc subjects

The vast majority of our pupils (80%) entered for the English Baccalaureate (academic) subjects and their percentage achievement is also above the national average.

Progress 8 headline measure

The progress made by our pupils have always been outstanding in relation to the rest of the country and Platanos College has been recognised in the Mayor of London Schools for Success programme and SSAT awards.

The new, more rigorous Progress 8 measure introduced by the government to scrutinise pupils’ progress across at least 8 subjects indicated that Platanos College pupils achieve on average about half a grade higher (0.44) in comparison to other pupils across the country.

This means that the school is significantly above average in comparison to the rest of the country.

Our GCSE results have shown significant improvement over the last few years and Platanos College is now one of the top-performing schools in the country.
